While driving yesterday, from 1st to 2nd, all of a suddend, my transmission made this horrorable sound to which I am not able to describe. Anyway, I came to a complete stop. Slowly, from first gear, 1 mph, 2 mph, but when the rpm gague was faster than the gear, that is when I would hear a high pitch sound as something was grinding, but not catching. As l let the rpm's go back very low, I can continue to go 4 mph, 5 mph and change gear no problem to second and my speed would very slowly but gradually allow me to speed up. I was able to get to 40 mph but I did want to push it. When it was in gear and slowly speeding up, was no problem with the gears, but it was the increased rpm's that was, what I think, causing the slipping of some belt or device to stay in gear.
I know I probably did not describe this well enough, but just wondering what could be some of the problems and how much for the repair.
Just wanted to add one more comment, but it sounds like some type of bushing (sp) is being grinded until the rpms good lower.

Might have blown up your clutch.. Notice any funky smells?
No, no smell like burning brakes,,,I have spilled that smell before....I have not problems changing gears at all and when it is in gear, I am still able to pick up speed, slowly very slowly like if I try to speed up by 3 or 4 mph, that is when it start to sound as if the bushing (sp) are being grinded. When I let off the gas and allow the rpm's to go lower, the grinding sounds goes away and I can resume to speed up slowly......
