Are the clearances around the headers as tight as they look in the picture? Any issues with the headers hitting under hard acceleration? I'm also considering this mod in the future.
Love mine too! Had them installed ~2weeks ago, no rattles or bangs from clearance issues. I finally got under the car to check out the install, and they look great, the best set of headers I've ever owned! You do hear the typical tinny sound that all headers make, but wow does this thing come alive with the go pedal
Very happy with mine, have had them on a few months now. Definitley can feel more torque and a lot louder
2 things to be aware of.
Be sure you hook up your O2 sensors correctly, it's easy to cross them up, many have done this
You will most likely through a cat-efficiency code with highflow cats hooked up to stock 02's..this won't effect performance but will effect you passing emissions in some states.. it's due to the fact that the highflow cats do not heat up quick enough. The directions that come with the kit talk about this..you can either order O2 sims or get an LS1 edit/tune and the code will go away.
sorry for the long post, just want to share as much info as possible.
I went from 12.297@111.05 (112.50 was high mph that day) 1.788 60' in -500' DA. I added nothing but the LTs and leaned it out some and ran 12.119@114.81 (115.06 was the high mph that day) 1.749 60' in +700' DA. As you can see i gained quite a bit, but as a note, i gained NOTHING prior to leaning it out. Also note DA played a role here. It was running around 11.2-11.5 AFR at WOT in higher RPMS after the swap.
I just placed this post in my "favorites". I have been looking for a mod to do during the winter.
How many of you reporting HP/torque/SOTP increases have -mostly- stock motors?
I found that I can now accelerate from 60mph in 6th on a particular fairly long uphill grade on my way to work. The altitude there increases from 6300 to about 6800ft. Stock I would have to grab 5th if I needed to speed up.
Motor is a stock 99 with blackwing and 01 up style MAFS, basic LS1 edit tuning.
So what's the verdict on the O2 codes? How many are getting this code and how many aren't?
I had mine installed along with the abs of aluminum from Elite Engineering and have no issues with codes. I think if you are going to run High flow cats you should have them ceramic coated to keep the heat in.

Have the entire system in for a couple of weeks now and installed all the original O2's back in and no codes so far. Keep watching for them but so far so good. Maybe has something to do with having them coated(keeps more heat inside the system). Did not coat the cats though since not recommended by the coater due to fine mesh inside.

with just the mods listed above and a Predator tune. Car could NEVER do that before - it would just bog. Plus the sound of the headers are music to mine ears

I have had my set for 10+ months and love them. No clue on how good the Cats work as I had the rear O2 sensor programmed out at the time of my tune. My car picked up 40 RWHP with this system, Vararam, BBK TB and the tune by Mike Norris (NLP). Also zero ground clearence problems. These are close to the LGM system (which is VERY NICE) but the price on the SuperMaxx kicked A$$! The savings paid for my tune!!!!
