I had an external oil cooler installed on my car for track days. I can't remember the name of the cooler (Stefs?). It holds better than a quart of oil. I run the stock pan with some baffles welded in to help keep the oil at the pick up under open track use. Do I need to run the car a quart OVER full, to have the normal amount of oil in the pan when running, or doesn't it matter? I do notice that even though my oil temp now never gets above 220 on track days, the pressure DOES go down at sustained high rpm driving.
LG Recommended I still do this on my setup. I have the combo oil cooler / radiator and they recommended 8Qt street and ~9Qt track.
Hopefully that indirectly answers your question.
huh? I was thinking of getting the oil cooler and this thread was of interest to me as well. I don't think I understand this answer though. Would you mind elaborating a little please? What is LG Recommended?
