Need testing directions for the ignition switch

does anyone know how to test the ignition switch? I'm having the same issues as some other people and one was fixed with a new ignition switch. The thread of the issues is below.

Is installing a new ignition switch a DIY job? How hard is it?

I replaced mine and it wasn't too hard at all! You just have to remove the center console surround and knee bolster. It is fairly straightforward.

Where did you order it from? GMParts direct takes to long to ship the parts.
Did you need to have a new key cut?
