HVAC Display Problem

I started having lumination problems with my HVAC display awhile back. The lumination became dim then brighten up again, later it would go dim and would get bright only after I lightly tapped the display. Now it has gone completely blank and I can't see any settings. Has anyone had this problem and if so what is the cause and fix.

If it's under warranty take it to the dealer to be replaced. If not, you can open it up and knock on the resisters. If that doesn't work then there is a guy on ebay who will fix it for like 60 bucks or so, please don't quote the proce on me. But, I hear he's pretty good at doing it. Good Luck.

It is a common problem.
Unless the car is still under warranty it is your issue... no recalls

A new GM replacement is $380 at most dealers. Fred Beans will sell you a new one about $100 cheaper

eBay and CF vendors sell used ones NO GUARANTEE for about $150-165

There are two vendors on ebay that repair them.

I got mine back form Daid and installed it last week. Works great.
I am a 100% satisfied customer of his...
Who would not be... tthe local stealership wants $380+tax for a new part with a 1 year warranty.
David GUARANTEES his repair. $40.99 + shipping to him ( he covers return shipping) for 5 years....

There are 8 chips which were poorly soldered on by the factory. Touching these points which a soldering iron will completely fix the problem - took less than 10 minutes. Do a search and you'll find the picture of the 8 chips. If you're in a hurry, i'm sure someone around can solder them for 5 bucks. Mine went dim, dimmer, them no display. After installation, it's brighter than my radio!
