Intermittant External Temp on Climate Control Display
Hi all,
Searched the forums but did not see anything recently on the problem I'm having. Over the past year, the climate control digital display on my '99 C5 has not always shown the correct outside temperature. When it's working it's accurate, when it's not working right it displays a temp about 20 degrees cooler than actual and it does vary a few degrees around that point. Occasionally, it will jump to the correct temp for some period of time. It has gotten worse over time to where it now rarely displays the correct temp. All other functions of the climate control system work fine. Any help is very much appreciated!
It's likely your external temperature sensor has gone bad. Pretty easy and cheap fix that's been talked about many times here. Do a search for external temperature sensor and you should find a writeup about how to replace.
I had the very same problem until this past Saturday, when I replaced the ambient air temp. sensor - Problem solved. I bought the part from a local dealer for $8.75, and the install took 5 minutes.
