Get rid of the Dexcool. Lots of lawsuites against GM for excessive corrosion. Type in Dexcool lawsuites in your search engine and read a ton of complaints.

Anyone can sue for anything. Suing doesn't make it so. I have 110K miles on my stock water pump. I'm now on my second load of DexCool and no corrosion problems at all. Do proper maintenance, change hoses every four or five years, etc and your stock cooling system will work just fine with DexCool.
Evans Cooling Products have been around for several years and are gaining a very good reputation. When you use their coolant, you use no water with it. Go to their website and check it out.

I have talked to several auto machinists, radiator people and mechanics about Dexcool. They all call it Deathcool. I think it is ok until your system gets some air in it, then it acts like a cancer and corrodes like crazy. Ask any professional radiator guy or machinist, they will give you an earfull on Deathcool.

If it's so bad, what do they recommend using? I'd say any coolant would be a problem if the system has air in it or plain tap water is used.

I don't know of any definitive proof regarding air and Dex-Cool being mutually exclusive. Air, in enough quantity, will cause a problem in any cooling system eventually. Mainly from it's lack of ability to transfer heat. Not from any interactivity with coolant products.
And exactly how does any system get air into it? Not doing periodic checking and/or maintenance? Usually.
Speaking of "professional radiator guy", I was once told by a very very well known radiator shop man here in Houston (large well regarded shop), that distilled water does not cool as well as tap water, since tap water has minerals in it that and therefore it cools better. Puhleeez!
Point is, opinions regarding anti-freeze/coolants are many times all over the map. If the horror stories being told were all so true, I would have had to replace my entire engine and radiator by now.
I'm speaking from personal experience on my C5. Dex-Cool has not been been a problem at all.
