I've seen these advertised to prevent dust on wheels. Do they work? Do they cause any problems? Any C5 experiences with these type product? Other than other brake pads, does anything work to keep wheels clean of brake dust (not driving is not an option)?
Thanks

Stay away from the Clean Wheels shields. Besides being ugly they caused brake dust to go all over the sides of my car. took off in a hurry. With my Y2K rims get no dust on the rims, only some by the gills and on the rear facia.

I have them on my Grand Cherokee. They slow down the "build up" of brake dust quite a bit, but does not eliminate it. They look fine on the Grand Cherokee, but I don't think they would look good on a Corvette.

Thanks for the opinions, I think I'll pass on this item and keep scrubbing till its new pad time.

Why wait ???

I switched out my factory front pads at 3000 miles - to Raybestos Ceramics. No need to un-necessarily punish yourself for 40,000 miles.

Mike M, it won't be very long. Got 59K and pads are getting low. I'll be putting it up after the first snow (actually first salting) and usually comes out after two rainfalls wash away the last salting (Usually sometime in March). It will have new pads for the spring.

You asked for opinions....
Here goes...
Dust shields suck, in my opinion... I have the softest most dust flinging pads on the planet, they are also one of the best stopping pads made. One of the qualities of a soft pad is that it does not increase rotor heat as much or as quickly as a harder, less dusting pad will do. Ceramics suck.... again you asked for opinions.
I have over 60,000 miles on my original pads.. my rotors look like mirrors, no heat discoloration on mine... No one has ever seen dust on my wheels, because it takes all of 2 minutes to wipe them down before I put the car away,.,, and I drive it everyday in the spring summer and fall...
No sugar coating opinions found here.
