I noticed on re-install of my tranny that the flexplate was bent. At least one of the 3 arms that attaches to the TQ converter was bent so the gap between the TC and flexplate was not the same when I was installing the 3 TC mounting bolts. It varied about 1/2 inch. (This was most likely do to the removal process, not a drivetrain issue). I straighted the flexplate as close as I could....
Can the flexplate being less than perfect give the car a vibe? Should I get a new flexplate?
While it's apart I would get a new plate. Which converter are you using? Yank makes a heavy duty unit that they recommend when installing their TQ. Bob

I have a Vigilante. I've seen the Yank flexplate, it would be the one I'd get if I truely need one. I haven't heard much about it though.
Given the problem you're trying to solve, I wouldn't make it more complicated by adding another variable, the questionable flexplate.
The Yank plate is probably overkill, but that's not such a bad thing. You definitely want something like that in applications where the converter has additional mounting lugs, but it's a nice-to-have in any case.
