First measure the voltage at the sensor---middle light blue connector. It should be 2.4-2.5V. If there is no voltage it is a bad sensor. If it measures anything else turn steering wheel until until it registers the correct voltage. Disconnect steering wheel and recenter. Search the forum for more info.

I had this same problem. I followed the advice of a fellow CF member, and it did the trick. Try reseating the EBTCM (electronic brake &traction control module) plug. It's the large connector that plugs into your braking system. I have a 99' and it's located just in front of the engine. Open this thread for more information.

[SUB MAIN]Thanks Gordy, I did the search but I can't find any information on exactly where this sensor is.
I know it is somewhere at the base of the steering column.
Thanks.

Had this happen to mine a couple of years ago. The steering column has to come out to replace it. I had a reputable shop here on L.I. do it, at the time it was about a $300.00 fix.
The sensor is located at the bottom of the steering column. I wouldn't attempt this without the service manual, it provides detailed instructions on the procedure, but essentially, the column must be removed to access the sensor. If you have a shop perform the R&R, figure about 2.5 to 3 hours. The time will go up if you have the telescoping steering column.
Try the connector first, and if you have no luck, you will need to change out the sensor.

I am wondering if you or someone can guide me in regards to problems with my steering column? The preset positions seem to work errantly and the column seems to get stuck periodically and will not extend the rest of the way out. If I drive it for a period of time or turn the ignition off and back on, it sometimes seems to work again...?? Of course, the dealer can't seem to replicate it when I take it in.....Any Ideas??
Thanks much - Damon
