I am preparing for a cam installation myself, but went a bit further. You should also change the springs, the push rods and timing chain while you are in there. In addition, the earlier LS1's had issues with the oil pump, so a ported unit is also worth consideration. Underdrive pulley would be a nice add on, but not necessary although the stock units seem to have a limited life so while it is off you may want to replace it as well with at least a stock unit. Big job to get off later to change it.

I went with a whole new valve train, including dual Crane valve springs, push rods and accelerated lift rocker arms. I also bought an ATI dampener and crankshaft pinning kit.

You should replace the following:

1. Valve Springs
2. Valve Retainers
3. Valve Locks (Keyes)
4. Valve Seals
5. Timing chain
6. Harmonic Dampner
7. Crank Bolt
8. Push Rods
9. Oil pump

You will need better springs with that cam. I have Comp 918's and a similiar cam to yours. You should replace the locks, retainers, and seals as regular maintanence since your in there already. Use a stiffer pushrod.

On and engine with that many miles I would definitely replace the timing chain and oil pump. I used a JWIS chain and a new LS6 pump.

The dampner should not really be reused in my opinion. It is press fitted to the crank in the first place. It will not fit as tight the second time on. It is not worth the risk of having it walk off or loosen. You can use a new stock one or buy an aftermarket one with a stock diameter or underdriven. You have to use a new crank bolt regardless. It is a torque to yield fastner and cannot be reused.

I would change the valve springs to match the cam. Probably some Z06 springs or comp cams 918 springs. Your stock pushrods and rocker arms are fine. Replace the valve seals. I would also change the timing chain set with your mileage. As for the oil pump, I would probably change that as well. A stock LS6 pump will do fine but pull the relief valve out and insert a 1/8" shim, that will bump your pressure up 15-20 psi. Personally, I would also pin the crank and harmonic balancer. Make sure you mark the position of the balancer before you pull it off for reorientation for reinstalling and replace the crank bolt. If you pin the crank, you will never have to worry about it coming off or getting loose.

Things that need replaced are

valve springs. Anything rated with that kind of lift...not ls6 springs
Push rods.
Crank bolt

Anything else you can reuse..ie retainers, keepers, seals etc.

Things you may want to change.. Oil pump and timing chain.
