Default "soft" clutch question

hey guys, just need more reassurance that i'm trouble shooting this right. 02-Z06, headers/ cats/ 368 rhwp 367rwtq. stock z06 clutch with 22,000 miles. stock tires.I'm the third owner, haven't a clue as to previous owners driving habits. I drive very spirited at times, several passes at atco and a couple at E-town. track event at pocono's. anyway enough bullsh*t. If i drive hard and spin from light to light the clutch gets soft. I tried to see if its slipping by getting into 4th, slowing to35-40 mph, accelerate, and the rpms do not go up, the car seems react correctly. so does this mean the clutch is ok. After about 5-10 mins of regular driving the clutch comes back to normal stiffness. I have no problem spending money on a new clutch, i already called chris @ ecs and made a date for a new rps clutch next month. I just don't want to do something i don't have to. is this normal for a clutch to do this?

not normal but common. its a pressure plate design flaw w/ them. Centrifugal forces causes it. I bet it'll be even worse if you wring out 4th gear to 6k+.

Just make sure that you get a brand new master cylinder, slave cylinder and pilot bearing as well when doing the new clutch. I would also highly recommend an external remote bleeder line at the time of new clutch.
