I just bought my first C5, a 2001 Z06. The only problem I'm having is trying to start it. When I put the key in it will not turn in the ignition lock.
After I fiddle with it a bit and take it out and in a few times, it will then turn. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does my car just like a bit of foreplay
Is it an original key? Do you have a second key? Does it have the same problem?
Sounds like it could be a replacement key that has one tooth just a bit off...
Often have this happen with home keys cut by retail clerks .....
I have two keys and they both do the same thing. I suspect it is the ignition lock itself, but thought I'd ask first just in case I was just doing something wrong.
Took the car to the dealer and it was a simple fix. The ignition cylinder lock is a little worn, but it works fine if you don't push the key in too far. I guess I was jamming the key in. Now that I know this, it works great.
