Default Another Weekend, another mod (only 5 min)

Another long weekend, wanted to do something quick.

I had a remote for the garge door opener i picked up from the local HomeDepot. It is one of the smallest garage door openers i have found.

p/n GMI-3BL (GENIE TYPE REMOTE)

I was looking for a good place to put it, i think i found that spot.

Double stick tape it to under the stering colum shroud. When it is placed there you can barly see it from any position, all you do is reach under the stering wheel and push the button. (remove the key ring before mounting)

Use some high strength double stick tape and attach it to the underside of the stering colum plastic schroud.

Make sure to clean both surfaces with some rubbing alcohol befor attaching the double stick tape. Dont rub to hard on the plastic shroud.

I will try to post some pictures later.

To all have a great Labor Day weekend.

Well it depends if you have this remote already or not.

If you have the small remote or one like it would be only a few $$ 1-2 for the doubl stick tape.

if you need to buy the small remote then it would be aprov 30.00 if you bought a new one from home depot.

if you need to buy a new remote anyway get the smaller one. and trade someone in your family

My stupid remote needs to be mounted high like on the visor or it won't work. Wonder if you have any problem because it is mounted so low? My receiver/motor is a Wayne Dalton, don't know whose unit it really is. I do know it's not a Sears because the Wayne Dalton guy said I could upgrade and the upgraded unit is a Sears.

When you buy or if you have this remote first it has to be compatable with the door opener. this is a replacement door opener i had.

the i programed it is there is a small button on the garage door opener itself. push the button on that a red light wil start blinking, push the new remote button twice, and it should work.
