Is this a common practice?
To charge some one $650-$750 labor for a clucth install then charge another $500-$600 labor for a differential swap?
Heck i figured since you have to drop then entire rear end (tranny,diff, and TQ-tube) to do a clutch install that shops would give you break on labor charges for a diff swap....guess not.

No, thats out of line.. I've done several clutches on C5's and it would take maybe another thirty minutes of labor to do the diff while your that far into it.

I don't think it is unusual to itemize labor separately for separate tasks, but the combined labor estimate is way too high. 
I wonder what their margin is on the clutch and differential.
