I have the cats off. One was broken up inside from a bump about 20 miles earlier. I'm in the process of cleaning out the guts. Should I break out the good one so they match, or replace the broken one? Will I need a re-tune with open cats?
Also, 1 sensor was ash grey, but the other was covered with black soot. I had the car re-tuned a couple of months back after running rich for a year. Could it have been rich on one side and be fine now? I would think that the high temps would have burned off the soot by now.
Car has been runnin 100% better since re-tune. 500hp at 11.3 ratio.
www.drgas.com makes a offroad x pipe that may bolt up to your headers. Gutted cats don't flow very well, and can cause resonance. I'd replace that section with an X or another set of cats.
