This may be a fairly uninformed question, but how much longer wheel studs do most people run than stock for the track?
The reason I ask is that I'm contemplating using dedicated track tires next season and know most use longer studs. I'm also looking into some spacers for street driving purely for asthetics. Maybe I could find a happy medium.
Kodiaks, which are a popular wheel in SCCA T1, require longer wheel studs. I run CCWs, 17x10 front and 17x11 rear with stock wheel bearings and studs. I replace my wheel bearings and studs about annually.
The delphi cartridge bearing for the C5/6 will easily accept the ARP p/n 100-7704, 1/2 x 20 x 3.470 uhl wheel stud.
A simple drill through to clean the press knurl (of approx 0.060"), then drill guide diameter for 1/2" (drill 29/64") and then tap 1/2 x 20.
This not only makes continually replaceable, but the other available knrul diameters do not really fit past the wheel bearing/wheel speed sensor cartridge. The 0.568, 0.618, 0.625 and the 0.680 knurl fastners have a hard time making it past the bearing assembly on its way to the flange...... not to forget to mention, after a replacement or two, the knurl interfearence fit just goes away.
Thanks John, I'd really appreciate that. I'm trying to decode how much spacer I want for street and how much extra stud I need for Kodiak FX's without spacer to get the right length of wheel stud without being dangerous on track or having it look crummy on street.
You said you run a 0.850 spacer, how does that work when the ARP stud only gives you an extra 0.5 inch over stock? I assume the foot of the wheel you run is thinner? Just trying to make sure I have a grasp on all this.

front CCW is thinner than rear by maybe 50% just a guess. No spacer in rear. CCW makes nice spacers and he may know what you need exactly. Your spring rate will change as you space the wheels out. How big of a rush are you in? I will have it apart next weekend.
No super big rush here. The spring rate/handling change shouldn't bother me since spacers are just an asthetic choice for me. I'm stil trying to guess what spacer I need to set the wheels flush with the fenders.
