Default Trunklid does not pop-up

I just bought a 2000 FRC. I love this car!!! it's fast and handle very well.
I have a very minor problem with the trunklid not pop-up. I have to pride it open with my finger. Any suggestion ??? Thanks in advance...

I put a little silicone on the gasket so it doesn't stick. You might also want to lubricate the release mechanism a little.

I've heard of many people complaining about this. It occurs with the FRC's and the Z06's both. We all complain about it: I do, my bud with his '02 Z06 and my brother with his '01 Z06.

I am going to try and using some white lithium grease and maybe adjusting the bumpers up but then the later might make the lid edge higher.

Personally, I think the issue has to do with the counter-acting mechanism being a hydraulic arm and the lid material not being heavy. For example - on the Chevy Monte Carlo it works fairly well as the trunk lid is heavier and it uses a bigger mechanism with springs.

So far, I've seen no solutions to fix this "issue".

Also you can hit the release button then shut one of the doors. The force from the door should pop it up preventing the need to pry.

Another item is some trunk lids only have one gas shock. Mine is one that only has one and as mentioned above the gasket cleaning or lubing helps.

The door trick works very well as does keeping the mechanism lubricated properly. Another trick is raising the two "bumper stops" in the rear corners of the trunk. In my car, an 02 Z06, there are two rubber stops in the rear corners of the trunk that screw down into the rear bodywork. I threaded these up about 1/4" to put some upward pressure on the trunk to help push it up and pop it when the release is pressed.

Default Lube it!

Raise the trunk lid and check the hinge mechanisms on each side. There are several pivot points on each that need to be lubricated. Any type spray lube will work. Lube, then exercise the lid for several cycles. Lube the latch mechanism as well. It should start to improve right away.

I had the same problem on my Z06. Someone here suggested spraying the latch mechanism with WD-40. It worked better than I thought it would, just doing that made it open at least an inch higher, every time.

unscrew counter clock wise the two spring loaded bumpers on each side of the trunk lid. Don't go too far the trunk won't close. Worked on my z06

I followed all the fixes mentioned so far and the one that finally worked was adjusting the rubber stops. My trunk lid now pops open about an inch and a half. Thanks to everyone

Had the same problem on my Vert, so I oiled the hinges and greased the struts and adjusted the bumpers. Now it works like a charm. Just don't adjust the bumpers too much or the trunk lid will sit higher than the surrounding panels when closed .

I had tried lubing and that helped very little but after adjusting the rubber bumpers my vert trunk now pops up like it should. Thanks to all who advised adjusting the rubber bumpers.

I tried all the suggestions and nothing seemed to help in the long term. One day I took a closer look at how the hoop on the trunk lid was contacting the latch mechanism and noticed that it was aligned to far to the left side or all the way back in the crotch of the lock. I removed the hoop from the deck lid and elongated the fastener holes slightly so it could move further towards the right side of the car. It has worked ever since. I'm sure that this is not a fix for everyone but it is worth mentioning

Well I'll be darned. I've lived with this for 3 years. Should have adjusted those bumpers 3 years ago! Thanks for the tip.
