I have a LS1 motor that I want to put in my 90 vett. Can anyone tell what year car this engine came in or what year it was made. On the back of the block near the bell housing on the right side it has the following engraved 9802510:112 and on the other side it has the number 12550592 m cast in the alluminum. thank you if you can help.
if the intake manifold is still w/ the fuel rails--2 fuel lines(97-98), 1 fuel line(99-04), also the part# on the pass base side of intake manifold suffix is '333' then it's 97-00; here's a link on how to ck if you have an ls6 block http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showpo...86&postcount=8
Thanks, I heard that the 99 and later need more fuel pressure.

Reason: spelling
If this motor came out of another vehicle, you could always check out the VIN derivative. The LS1s have the VIN derviative stamped on a vertical pad on the left rear of the block near the mating surface of the bell housing, and oil filter pad. It will be a nine digit stamping. The second digit will correspond to the year of the vehicle it was installed in. If the digit is a V for example, it will be a 1997. Not sure if they used W or not or skipped it???? Also, I believe they switched over to a number after Z....
