Hey everybody, I was just wondering I seen an oil pump on ebay and it looks alot differant than the old oil pumps on the old 350s. Does the LS1 oil pump bolt on the outside of the engine or something? I don't need to replace mine but I was just wondering in case I would have to. Thanks everybody

The oil pump is behind the timing chain cover and is driven by the crankshaft. There are some good pix on ls1howto.com.
WOW, thanks man. It doesn't look like it would be that hard
No, except you have to remove the steering rack. and to remove the steering rack, you have to remove the radiator. Then you have to pull the balancer and probably replace that with a new one, since they are essentially pressed on and after it is pulled off the inside is stretched. Been there, done that, it is about a full days work with the right tools the first time.

You don't need to pull the radiator to get the rack out, but its still a sucky job. I just did mine for the second time, first time I neglected to use a new O-ring. I didn't replace the balancer, but the bolt is a one time only torque to yield part. They are around $3 at a dealer.

Yea, I had the rack off a while back to change the balancer. That wasn't much fun.
