Think I know the answer but thought I'd confirm. A 2001 LS1 is listed as having 350 hp. Researching on the forum it's apparent this is at the crank. I thought some time ago manufactures were regulated to spec hp at the rear wheels?
1. Is the 350 rating at the crank?
2. If so, what does a stock 2001 LS1 have at the rear wheels?
SAE net is at the flywheel, not rear wheels. Prior to net were gross HP ratings which were basically stripped engines with no exhaust or accessories. A stock LS1 will be around 295-315 at the wheels.
auto's have less hp,stick's more.if you have a stick take 350 and multiply by 17% to get a pretty close # for the rwhp.
Actually, the reverse...multiply by .83 for a number close to rear wheel power. Many of the tuners figure manual transmission loss as 15% (multiply 350 by .85) and automatic transmisssion loss as 20% (multiply 350 by .80). These are just rough estimates, however, and you will see numbers all over the place.
