Default Aussi clutch first thoughts

Well the clutch install is done. (Wasn't as bad as i thought) The clutch grabs great. There was a little bit of chatter for about the first 20 miles but it has almost gone away all together. The only issue i had was crossing the front two O2's but other than that it was an easy install.

Sweet! Lets go abuse it now!! I still plan to take the Viper down to PIR Late Nites this Friday night. I just might have the meth inj kit and 12lb pulley installed onto the supercharger in time, too. I have a feeling I will only get one run in then get tossed fromt the track for no cage. Can you make it?!?!

Yah, I really like the Aussie clutch. I've installed a couple already and my customer's love it. How does that billet flywheel feel?

After talking to my resident C5 GuRu (rwj383 Gen3motorsports) I went with the Steel Billet flywheel I was very suprised on how much lighter it was than the stock one. Im not sure how much lighter maybe RWJ can give us some insight. I do alot more drag racing than enything else, and if i want to get in to the X cross this will work well for me also.

Its wierd that yours is just off the floor. What master do you have? Mines roughly half way, slightly more to the top, but then again I have there new model pressure plate

Do you notice any faster revs with the lighter flywheel?? I was told it would rev faster and I know it should due to less rotational mass..

Just wondering about actual info.. hehe

thanks

stock LS1/LS6 iron flywheel = 24 lbs
Billet steel Aussie = 17 lbs
Fidenza aluminum = 10 lbs

The lighter the flywheel, the less I-omega intertial losses = faster revving. Great for track cars, not as great for drag racers. Drag racers benefit more on launches from the inertial force of a heavier flywheel during high RPM launch. The billet steel is a healthy compromise. I have the same type billet steel flywheel with my Exedy Twin Disc clutch in my vette. awesome flywheel.

Damn I wish that flywheel were available when I put in my aussie--but to tell the truth I have grown to love the heavy flywheel again for daily driving I had used a light one so long I had forgotten how much easier the car drove in day to day stuff---I love my aussie clutch and for the first time in years I never even give the clutch a second thought as opposed to wondering how long this one will last--and this clutch drives every bit as good as my exedy dual which lasted about 3000 easy street miles and ended up with bare disk--
