Default K&N and Vararam

Just installed a K&N filter in my Vararam intake and it fit perfect. I ordered it last week from LAPD along with the velocity stack and hood seal. Have to try it out tomorrow to see if there is a difference. Hoping to pick up some throttle response with the velocity stack.

When I talked to the guy there he claims 5rwhp on the dyno but I know you won't feel it. I just heard you feel a little better throttle response.

The K&N filter fits the Vararam well and is better quality.

i plan to get a K&N soon, that foam filter just isnt filtering enough. The areas behind the filter, including the TB, are always covered with a thin layer of dust everytime i check it.

FWIW I just got my vararam from West Coast Corvettes and they include the K&N filter for the same price everyone else sells it for with the non-K&N filter. I called WCC after I placed the order to make sure they gave me the baja filter when they told me about the K&N. Very nice experience ordering from them!

I have had my new '04 for a year and just turned 4000 miles so I've gotten used to the power and the way it drives. I could not believe the increase in power after installing the vararam!! Now I have not had the opportunity to compare it to any of the other popular brands on the market, but I absolutely love the power increase! My car has only seen rain one time for 10 minutes so I am not concerned about the hydro-lock possibility as much as I would be if it were a daily driver.

My .02

Very nice! Since we're on the subject, what filter were you using? Is your car an auto or M6? Were the conditions and 60fts similar? What was the MPH increase?

Thanks for the info

Truthfully I don't think that the Filter fits all that great. For one, you have to trim it to get it in there. For two, it leaves gaps that air can easily go around the filter just like on the Baja one. It will filter better but you have to make sure the air is having to go through the filter b/c otherwise it is just going to flow through the least restrictive route.

I know others have done this as well but after trimming it I took some clear silicone caulk and sealed the edges so that the air had to pass through the filter. You can still clean the filter by removing the Vararam lid and washing it out. Just a thought!

Unless someone else beats me to it, I will give you that number when I get home later today. I kept the end of the K&N box just for that part number.

I agree that it's kind of a poor fit, but with some wiggling I got it in place. They should make some sort of rubber bladder that can go around where the two sections meet just for peace of mind.

I bought the G-Timer GT2 performance device and did some runs while stock, then after a B&B PRT & x-pipe, so my next run will be with the vararam installed and then another with the predator program installed. I will post the results when done. Best time after the cat back system so far was 13.15 @ 105.

I thought maybe someone had found a better fitting K&N filter. The one being talked about is for a 76-77 Triumph TR-7. It will work but requires trimming and some sealing.

No, you definitely need to get UNDER the front end.

Yes I was told that by Vararam. The filter should be out on the market anytime now, because they told me 2 weeks max, and that was 9/8/05. It's 2 weeks now. Unless there is a delay for some reason, I would think by Monday they should have some.
