I watched Texas Texas Speed and Performance build one with 519RWHP with a monster cam and their own heads with F.A.S.T LSX 90mm, LS2 Throttle Body, watched all the DYNO runs myself, wasn't my car but the owner is one Lucky SOB!!!, I was having a 383 Stroker put in and wish I would have gone the Texas Speed and Performance 402. Call Jason up there and he can give you all the specs.

Can both AandA Corvette and LAPD post links to the 3" catback they are using with their 3" exhaust system, please? I can't find them on your website.

I just finished up my econo 402 build and had a tune
ls2 short block with a baby cam 226/226 lsa 112 6.00 lift $4,300 from SDPC (includes cam and install of cam and valley covers. front covers, timing chain, and shipping to my door within a week from ordering.)
and patriot heads stage 2 $1,250 (includes prc gold dual springs and stage 2 port and shiping to front door.
ls6 intake, ported tb, kooks lt, (off of old motor)
cost of parts $5,550
Install about $1,700 includes new studs and gasgets plus odds and ends stuff.
Tune By Synergy done on a dyno pak "Priceless" (well not really, $400 but well worth it)
Total cost 7,600.
473 RWHP
489 RWTQ
And best of all still Cal smog legal (well at least the sniffter part)
There you have it a good motor for a good price with pretty good power. all for about $7,600 Plus you will still have your old short block that you could sell.

I will be installing and tuning one of Shirl Dickey's stroked LS2's into one of my customer's 2001 ZO6 in January (Jesse Connell aka Schpodie). Instead of 402cid, Shirl went ahead and did the 4.100 crank instead of the 4.000 crank (same cost for crank, just a bit more machine work) to yield 418cid. I will be re-using Jesse's LGM Stage 2 heads (absolute speed heads that flow awesome) but I will be unshrouding the valves a bit more out to 4.03 bore allowances + some touch up port work. The secret to this package is the sick cam Shirl and I designed for Jesse- something like 252/260 .645/.645 113lsa on a Comp Cam XE-M lobe design. If we dont see something north of 525rwhp and nuts torque, something is wrong. Jesse will have his hands full at the strip this coming spring.

These 402s are a god-send for sure. Everyone can afford a stroker motor now. But things are about to get even better. GM will be releasing their 6.2L L92 engine soon for production truck/SUV line. This block will basically be identical to the LS2 except it will have 4.065 bores rather than 4.00. Therefore, building a 427 will cost the same as the current prices on the 402s. Nice.

Hey Charlie....

Nice job on both.

Here is a link to the 550 RWHP thread which includes the dyno gragh....

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...156&forum_id=1

There have been alot of 402/408 build-ups with AFR 225's that have produced in excess of 500 RWHP....alot of them in the low/mid 500 range with somewhat aggresive hyd. rollers (24X/25X duration). Check some of the dyno sections of a few of the other popular LS1 sites as well.

Hope this helps...

Tony M.

The 402 is a bargain and the 6.2 liter motor will be even better...

We built a solid baseline number around a 402, AFR heads, Kooks 1 7/8" heades, high flow cats, 3" x-pipe, and B&B Bullets. Tuning was optimized and we maxed @ 487 RWHP / 452 RWT

Next, we pulled the cat back completely off and re-tuned - we maxed @ 499 RWHP / 464 RWT

Finally, we installed our 3" system and re-tuned - the results were interesting...we maxed @ 501 RWHP / 467 RWT

Charlie
Am I understanding correctly: Your system installed, generated more HP/TQ that no cat back at all. Correct?
