I am looking for some information about moving the MAF to a location directly in front of the throttle body.
I am in the process of planning for Nitrous. One kit I have looked at intigrates the spray into the MAF. However, it just does not seem like a good idea to fill up the airbridge with fuel and Nitrous. I'm told it's OK but I just don't like it.
I would like to know what it takes to move the MAF to a location similar to the F-Body or C6 setup. I have a 2004 so the harness is no problem. What changes in intake hoses and the airbridge are involved?
A very popular mod, especially in the f-body arena. Speed density tuning has become quite popular. I used SD tuning (MAF disabled) to tune my PCM and it worked great. I re-enabled my MAF and recalibrated it though.
MAFless setups are very popular Down Under where they have been running SD tunes for quite some time.
Hey, I feel for ya and I have been watching this thread with interest. Have you looked at this forum, http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10 , they have alot of info on nitrous and several corvettes running all sorts of systems. Maybe post there for additional opinions. BTW, nice car, reminds me of mine.
I spoke to someone at Callaway. According to him, they relocate the MAF mostly for better throttle response. And to also eliminate the airbridge. It's not for gaining HP.
I had not thought about the airbridge being removed. I just assumed it would be in front of the MAF after a relocation. Without an airbridge where do they put the filter?

Hey Lemans.....nitrous huh?...maybe you can get out of the elevens now! Wash
get rid of the maf altogether...speed density all the way!

The easiest way to accomplish this is to call up www.callawaycars.com and order a C5 Honker kit
There are a few benefits to the Callaway design - one of them being they tried all other designs on the market to "feed" their 6.8 Liter engine package and to get to the 550 mark, they designed the Honker
It gave them about 20hp more than the next best thing on the market - If there was something better out there, I think it would have been a whole lot easier to just install that...
Also interesting how the new C6 went to a similar location for 2005, after the Honker was introduced (in early 2004)
I also have been really interested in this intake until I found one of the forum members just hydrolocked his engine with one of these. It's what I have been afraid of with all of the bottom breather types.Wish they could design some sort of deflector for under the shroiud to address this problem. Do a search.
