After the first of the year, I am going to get a trailer for the Z06. I need advice on the proper locations front and rear to attach the tie down straps to the car. Any recommendations as to strap type and where to get them would also be appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT - I misread the post above and thought he meant trailers for tires, not the car itself. Whoops! Anyway, I thought the Wal Mart tire chuck was a nice solution when I learned it so I hope someone else likes the idea.
I've got the cheap Harbour Freight trailer with a plywood top. I put eyebolts on the corners (8 total) from Home Depot, and plastic tire chucks (16 total) from Wal Mart arranged in two rows. This way I can carry 4 or 8 tires if I need to help a buddy. I use ratcheting straps you can get anywhere including Wal Mart, 2 straps through the center of each tire row, going to forward and back eyebolts to form an X.
I copied this idea from my buddy Randy, there are I think 3 of these now that go to our Corvette Challenge.
I've got pics but I can't host them. Hope you get the idea from the text.
Use the jacking puck holes on the frame.
Get 4 t-hooks from NorthernTool or any tow truck supply place and 4 5,000lbs straps ratchet straps. closed end latch.
use an x-pattern

Do a search in the autox and road race section where you had your other post. there is some good trailer info there

get the t-hook only not the combo as they are higher. Also get straps where the hook at the end is in the same plane as the strap not twisted 90 degrees. It fits undewr the car better and won't pound into the bottom. I found out the hard way.
I fought this problem and could not keep from damaging the rubber air dams with the straps hooked to the front suspension, or sway bar. I solved it by looping my tiedown straps to the outside of the front tire and through a wheel spoke on each side of the car. My tiedown straps are padded so that no metal comes in contact with the rim... This is an easy tie down since it is all accessable from the outside and you don't have to reach under the car. These straps prevent the car from moving rearward. For the rear I loop the tie down straps around the sway bar to the aft trailer hooks. This prevents the car from moving forward.
Hope this is clear.

I tow mine as AU N EGL and John have said above. Bought my t-hooks and tow straps from Northern as well. No problems with ordering or shipping from them.
Also remember not to tow the car in gear to prevent the drivetrain from banging back and forth. I do use the e-brake though.
