Default pasenger window intermittent

Hey guys, my window on the passenger side work sometimes and not others. Can someone tell me where the connector might be before I take the door panel off. Thanks for the help as always.

a good possibility your window motor is on its way out the door. You can bang on the door panel while holding the button down at the same time. Sorta like banging on a starter to try and get a few more starts out of it. I done this for awhile before the window motor went completly out. THe good news is it is not super hard to replace if you are a DIY kind of guy. If you get it going, it seems to help if you use it every time you drive the car. Hope this helps

Ah, yes, the common stuck and intermittant window dilemma. Well, I am in agreement with "stngh8r" above. In fact, it is rare that the actual door panel-window switch, and, the power window modulator, actually fail. A member of the guilty party is the actual design of the "power window regulator assembly" (which includes the power window motor and is not sold by GM dealerships separately), itself. It's horrendous series of flimsy pulleys and cables misalign themselves causing the power window motor to jam up.

The cheap power window motor leaves much to be desired. Therefore, it is the cheap power window motor itself that is the main culprit here. Now, you may certainly press down the power button and slam the door (even going over some rough road may help) to dislodge the jammed power window motor. However, you may cause the panel switch to overheat, and, consequently fail, as well.

However, what I have found that combines the best of all DIY methods described above, is to face the affected door: Now, look right at the area along the edge of the door panel switch close to the door handle, and, bang on this area with several sharp successive blows. The concussion of this impact will help you to un-jam the power window motor. Frankly, this method has worked on all my Vettes. Now, do keep in mind that this may only be a temporary fix because eventually you may have to replace the entire power window assembly unit. At that point, you may call Gene at the Karshop to sell you a used, but, recent assembly unit. Good luck.

mine was doing this but going back and fourth between the drivers side and passanger now they are both stuck. I have already replaced the drivers side actuator a while back so i doubt that it is the problem.

Most likely corrossion on the wire connectors on the drivers side I would tear apart your doors and check connections before beating on it and just hoping it fixes it.

As an addendum, I also agree that it is prudent to check the connectors in the left side of the drivers side footwell for any corrosion. Rust and debris lodged in the connectors, as well as, kinked power window door harnesses (through the accordion door duct to the connectors) have been known to cause intermittant power window operation, as well.

In my particular case, the connectors and harness wires were in perfect condition. My non-operating window issues were caused by the power window motor, itself, jamming up. One notable symptomology of power window motor failure was the fact that the motor itself would overheat (when the power switch was depressed) because of internal jamming. Therefore, the mild concussive blows would then allow the motor, itself, to "un-jamm". Good luck to you. And, do let us know how it turns out for you.
