Woke up this am with my horn continuously blowing. No lights flashing just the horn. I pulled fuse. Started car and the charging system fault kept flashing and battery gauge went below 12.5. Pulled the battery and go it tested. Decided to change alternator. I will have it tomorrow. I did put my buddies alternator in (same care) and the gauge went back to normal and no fault reading. My question is, will the horn still go off if I replce alternator and put fuse back in? Like a dumb @#$ I forgot to check when I had my buddies alternator in. Also, what would cause the horn to go off at 1am when the car was sitting for 6 hours?
I was thinking the alarm was engaged and draining battery which caused it to set horn off??????
Wow, lets hope not... that means a new air bag as well... not cheap.
One of the benefits of the GM Service Manual is it will give you good information on troubleshooting this. (Hoping it's just a relay stuck.) It's one of the first tools I purchase for my vehicles. I have saved the cost many times over.
