Default Cooling System Troubleshooting

Need some assistance to resolve cooling issues. At low speed and idling at rest, the coolant temperature rises to 220 - 230 degres farenhiet. The radiator fan on the right side of the engine compartment is not operating. The fuses are okay.

Is there a temperature sensor that operates the fan cycles?

The fuse/relay panel shows three relays labled as Coolfan1, Coolfan2 and Coolfan3 respectively. Which one operates the radiator colling fan?

At speed, above 45 MPH, the engine runs at 190 degrees farenheit without fluctuation indicating the water pump is circulating coolant.

Suggestions and comments welcome.

I think the high speed fans come on at 225,you also might want to check if there is any debris in front of AC condensor and radiator. You will have to go underneath the front of the car.Try that for now and go from there.

Check up in the intake side of the rad. Sometimes it gets clogged with junk and stops the air flow.

Low speed fan comes on at 225 and off at 219. High speed fan comes on at 235 and off at 225. If you are idling with high temps turn a/c on high and this will turn fans on high. Someone will corect me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the information and advice.

Just a followup on what my problem was. Unbeknownst to me, I had a pinhole leak in the hose than runs from the radiator to the throttle body. The hole was on the underside on the bend near the radiator and didn't display a lot of evidence that it was the source of any leak. I was thinking that much of the residue was blowby from the radiator but now I am revealing my ignorance and age.

Ata ny rate, I replaced the hose, blew high pressure (60lb) air through the raditor and A/C coils to clean them out from the backside, I also used high pressure water to clean the engine compartment and A/C coil from the front side.

All seems to be okay now.

Thanks again for the great information, it was very helpful.
