Default Lingenfelter Underdrive Pulleys

I need to change my belts too, however, after buying from them from Chevy, I realized that I have the Lingenfelter Underdrive Pulleys.

Does anyone have them, too and can tell me whether the stock belts are the right size? Since I had them order them, they're considered Speciality Items and not returnable, can you believe that?

Default belts

Lots of good info on belt replacement in the archives.... here's a sample thread.

I put new Gatorbacks on my car in the spring. Very easy and quick. My old belts (40K) were still pretty good, now I have spares...

The swap is easy, and I'm no mechanic. I recommend working on a cold engine for obvious reasons. The main serpentine belt tensioner pulley is on the passenger side. Simply put a wrench on the tensioner nut, don't try to loosen it, just move the tensioner inward toward the middle of the engine bay and remove the belt once there is enough slack. My 98 has a separate A/C belt which I replaced in a like manner at the same time. Check to see that the belts are sitting on the pulleys correctly before you start the engine! 15 minutes from start to finish.

Also take the time to wire brush all the grooves in the pulleys, all the way around. Dirt, sand, etc gets inside these things and can be a contributing factor to belt squeek.

Did you have to remove the air filter dam ( think that is what its called)? I think the Ac is under the seprentine belt. Was it hard to get to that one?

Not sure what you mean by "air filter dam", but nothing is removed except a belt; do not remove any bolts, screws, fittings, etc. The A/C belt is under the main serpentine belt, so yes, you have to remove that belt first. Then remove the A/C belt by moving its belt tensioner pulley toward the center of the engine bay until you have enough slack to remove it. It is not hard to get to, but you do have to reach a little further into the engine bay. You could always jack up the car and reach from underneath, but I got to it by standing on my tiptoes. Remember to replace the A/C belt first, then replace the main belt!

Take off the air bridge to give yourself some more room. There is a tensioner for each belt. Put a wrench on the tensioner, turn it and it will release the pressure and the belt will come off. Once you get in there, and take a look around you won't believe how easy it is to change belts.
