Default Oil Pressure sensor bad

Well I have the symptoms of bad oil pressure sensor

Looking at previous threads the job does not look all that difficult, just a lot of bend time on the ol back.

Question, is there any thing else I should look for or check with the intake manifold off. Don't want to do this again. I was probably going to change the little check valve on the AIR system, I have had codes indicating this on passenger side. (Just cleared and they never came back after 10Kmiles)

98 coupe, MN6 85K miles use as a Daily drive.

Thanks

Done. Did the oil pressures sender change today, 10/7/05. Took about 3 hours. I took the intake manifold off completely, did a lot of extra cleaning of the manifold, vacuum the valley etc. and I had to run up to lowes to buy a deep socket. They did not have metric, so I got 1 1/16. It was not the correct size but it worked. There has to be a trick to hooking up the little hose on the rear of the intake manifold. I had to get someone with small hands (my wife) to do this part.

Took for a test drive, oil pressure back to normal. 35psi at idle and 45 or so at driving speed.

if its pegged at 80 on gauge and 128 psi on display you have a bad sensor. the dealer here told me 185 to replace mine and im not a mech so this may be the way to go !! jay

Make sure you tread carefully here. The pre-2000 oil pumps were notorious for going bad. If you suspect at all it may be the pump, make sure you are thorough in your checking to ensure you don't damage the motor.

oil pumps go bad and the oil P. goes to zero. what they are describing is a bad oil P. sensor, as posted above if dash reads 80 with the key on but engine not running and the dtc reads 128 the the sensor is bad.

to fix get a new new sensor for about $35 and the install labor (have to remove the intake) and you need a deep socket to pull sensor (24mm i think)
