What is the difference in the engines and what would it take to get there? I know the quick answer is headers etc.. but I don't want a loud car and the Z's don't have headers anyway. Just looking for info. Thanks.
Go for a set of 3.90 gears. This will give you the equivalent gearing that the Z06 does because of its MN12 transmission. This is why the Z06 can accelerate as quick as it does. You won't be all the way there but you'll be pretty close. This is the best mod you can do overall. Changing the cam would be the next step. You don't have to touch the heads.
It will take more than just gearing to run with Z06. The Z06 have better flowing heads and bigger cam which is ~50 rwhp difference and does have better gearing.
The Z06 has better heads, lighter valves, a better cam, reduced weight, different gearing, better suspension, wider non-runflat tires, and more.
An aftermarket intake, 3.90 or 4.10 gears, and a cam should get you to meet the acceleration goals. You can do headers and a tame exhaust like the Z06 exhaust or the Corsa Touring. They won't make the noise unbearable. If you want to hang on a racetrack/auto-x course you will need more.
