Stutter on hard accerlation

Stutter on hard accerlation
On the way home tonight I found the car was stuttering when picking up speed fast, the fuel was just above the first red line and when I filled up it seemed to have stopped, could this be the course do you think? or is it something else? Is it best to keep C5's well topped?

Start with: A4 or M6. Stock or mods. If mods which ones. Step by step what you did when the problem happened and what you did leading up to the problem. Does the problem happen every time, or only under certain conditions. That would be a start. The more complete you can describe the problem, the better the chance you will get the correct answer.
