Stock rim tire question?

Most tire mfrs will specify the range of rim width for which a given tire will safely fit. As an example, if you look at TireRack's specs info, there will be a rim width range listed for each tire size. That being said, you can easily go up 10 mm over stock, get away with 20 mm, and IMHO are pushing it beyond that, although people here have exceeded that margin I'm sure. Stock tire widths for C5 (non-Z06) tires are 245 fr and 275 rr; I know people have posted that they have used Z06-sized tires on the OEM rims without problems - the question, however, is whether this is the optimum size relationship for the given wheel/tire. Things may work, but you may not be able to extract the maximum capabilities with the wrong setup. Good luck with your decision.
