What the best petrol to put into my 98 c5?
95-Ron Unleaded
98-Ron Super-unleaded
100-ron Optimax

Second question my oil life is 14% should I wait till this goes down to 1% before replacing? or do it now?

Why wait?? Your oil is your first line of defense against engine problems. when in doubt...change it!

I use the cheap (Ha Ha ) stuff, 95 RON.

According to this site, it is roughly equvalent to the US 92 PON
http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/R...RONMONPON.html

And yes, change your oil any time about now

Changing the oil in a 'vette is the same as any other car.

Drain oil from sump.
Replace oil filter (half fill with oil first)
Replace drain plug
Fill with oil

Anybody can do it -including you if you can get under the car.

Only problem is local garages may not have access to the correct filter (PF44 I think)

I am using Valvoline Synpower 5w-30 by the way, paying £16.50 for 4 litres

Where are you based? bugger all info in your sig.

no, you will need 2 x 4 litre cans. I think it takes about 6-7 litres.

If you get stuck, bring it up here and I will give you a hand, I have a four post lift.

Ex-Yorkshire man here (Leeds). Good to see the old school spirit alive and well in Old Blighty.

I say Chaps, it certainly is smashing to see that there are Vettes in Jolly Old England.

Incidently, C5's take approximately 6.5 US Quarts on oil refill. Thats equal to 6 Litres at 38 fluid ounces per litre.

The same reason Brits think everybody in Texas has a 10 Gallon Hat, Boots, and rides a Horse. Don't you just love stereotypes.

You forgot and straps a sixgun to the hip....
...when it is really carried concealed

Having lived in both England and the U.S. It is amusing to have heard sterotypes from both perspectives.

On oil type... I am a firm believer in buying the best you can. Make sure it conforms to the GM spec. Which means a full synthetic. Any of the available UK synthetics will work.
I used Shell Helix Ultra in my car when I lived there.

Had a 500SEL when I lived in England But it had a Chevy big block in it, among other things

That really pi$$ed off the Merc crowd

I use 95 in France, and a mixture of 95 and 98 in the yUK - one tank of 98 to three of 95 otherwise the fuel guage throws a wobbler.

As for oil, I use Castrol Magnatec 5w30 and find it gives me a couple of more mpg.

BTW surely everyone 'torks lake thet' don't thay? At least all the mummys and daddys who trot dine to Hampers (Hampshire) for the weekend with their Tristams and Poppys and make a nuisance of themselves in my village pub (thay lake to call it a Bistro, of course) tork lake thet. Not only 'lake thet', but extremely loudly to boot. Then they block the car park entrance with their idiotic BMW X5s and Porsche Peppers.

At least in the Dordogne we only get them during the school holidays. . .
