What does it take to put a new passenger sunvisor in? Is the mirror lit? any wires to splice? Is it just screws? My visor keeps falling recently on my 1999 coupe, and I think the fit has worn down alittle anyone else have this problem?
Quit easy once you know what your doing! The mirror has a light but the wire has a small plug so it is easy to deal with, just keep shaking and pulling and the plug will finally come out of the hole. The trick is figuring out how to get the old visor out. There are small slots in the plastic ring around the visor mount. You rotate the visor until the inside and outside marks line up, then you stick a screwdriver in the slot bridging the inner and outer ring and hold the screwdriver up with a little pressure then grab the visor and rotate it. This will force the outer ring to turn which will pop it right out of its hole. The hole is a triangle shaped hole in the windshield frame that the outer ring snaps into. To reinstall do the same thing in reverse order.
Some visors have a small screw that can be tightened to adjusted the amount of pressure it takes to move the visor. I don't think the C5's had that but you may look and figure out a way to tighten it up a bit.
My 00 vert was an easy install just the other day. SpeedyZ explains it very well. On the install I just plugged in the wires, lined up the plastic nut and rotated the whole visor toward the windshield. It locked in automatically once I rotated. No need for any tools.
Now's a good time to install a homelink garage door opener. Before you reinstall the new one, open the stitching and wire in a homelink. It's great to get rid of the clicker and of course it looks stock.
When I did my homelink, I didn't sew the visor back together, I glued it. I put it on the passenger side. It's easier to see. I can't focus 2 inches from my head.
