Has anyone else had issues with the lumbar controls going out on their seats? The air bladders don't consistently inflate and when they do inflate, they dont hold pressure. Disconnected the lines at the "manifold / solenoids" and applied pressure and vacuum. No Leaks! I'm guessing that the solenoids are sticking. Is there some place that sells replacement solenoids? Or that repairs these things? The dealer is happy to sell me new ones for $323 each HELP!
My lumbars work fine, but the drivers seat side bolsters that snug you in don't seem to hold pressure on my 2004. I haven't brought it to the dealer yet for warranty work though. You f%ckers have me scared of them!
Let me know what they find when you take it in. Replacing the controls is pretty simple. My big hurdle is the $$ $$ they want for a little circuit board with 3 solenoids and relays on it. Good Luck with the Dealers. I personally drive an extra 20 minutes to get to a "Good" Chevy dealer. I find the management at the dealership makes all the difference.
I have noticed my lumbar controls acting strangely when my battery was low and another time when the terminals were loose. The bladders would inflate/deflate on their own while I was driving. They did hold pressure though.
It is easy to take the seat back apart, then you will find the line going into the bladder is probably loose. All you need is to reattach the line and secure it with duct tape. When you take the seat apart just tilt it forward and follow the center of the seatback to the bottom. It attaches to the rear of the seatback there. Just pull the leather at the bottom toward the front and it will come apart. You can easily see how to reattach it. I know duct tape sounds strange but it works. The air lines tend to come apart, especially when you tilt seat back. Also check the conduit with the lines in it. They get pulled if not in place when you tilt the seat. Make sure the conduit is to the side of the seat hinge. It worked for me.
My bolsters stopped working recently and since I was taking my seat out to change the bottom seat foam cushion I went ahead and took a quick peek at the bolsters.
However you can easily check the bolsters out without taking the seat out. Once you've removed the seat back cushion once it shouldn't take you more than 1-3 mins to get access to the bolsters.
I could hear my motors trying to pump the bladders up but one of the stems had broken off. Rather than pay the big $$$ for replacement bladders I took some crazy glue, (Super Glue) and glued the stem back on and I think it is as sturdy as new. The bladder holds air now with no leaks and I saved myself some $$$. If it breaks again I'll just reglue it! .
