I have an 04 coupe w/ mn6. I've finally decided to go with lt headers and an x pipe. Can you tell me what brands you like and why. There are many to chose from out there and they all say they're the best
.
I'm looking for stainless and would like to keep my stock cats, if possible, so as not to have any code issues. My primary desire is more torque.
Kooks and LGM are the top 2 choices... Most setups come with the headers, hi-flo cats, and and x-pipe all together so you don't have to chop and cut anything. I do get random cat codes about once a month that I just clear and keep truckin'.
I can only speak for the Kooks system that I just installed. The sound is incredible with my B&B PRT exhaust! The quality of the Kooks headers is excellent. The fit and finish is incredible! A very good collector transition design. I work in racing and think I know what quality craftsmanship is all about. Kooks is some of the best I have seen! This is also the first mod that I have installed that I can DEFINITELY feel the performance improvement!
Now with that said, I am sure the LGs and other name brand systems are also very good. I doubt you could go wrong with any of these systems!! Good luck w/ your decision!!
I have LG's and no complaints here. Fitment and quality were great. I've also seen Kook's products and they're very nice too, and they seem to fit just as good without clearence issues.
Just stay away from SLP's, I've watched an install first hand and they didn't fit well and run a strand of wires between one of the tubes if I recall correctly.
My tuner recommended I go with Bassani LT headers. He said they create some of the best torque numbers and are great for daily driving. He said that Kooks and LGs are great as well but they make most of thier torque and hp up at the top end. For usable low end torque, which you use most around town, he said I should stick to bassani. Anyone have these bassani headers installed? Or does anyone have any feedback or info on them? Thank you.
Most of the current most popular long tubes (LG, Kooks, Dynomaxx)won't allow you to keep the stock cats without some cutting and fabrication. As mentioned, they all come with an x-pipe and cats or off-road pipe designed for that system. As for brands, I have LGs with their new non-polished (and consequently cheaper) hi-flowcats.
Hey guys...how does the Dynatech Supermaxx headers/cats/xpipe setup compare to the LG and Kooks headers? They seem to be constructed well and the price is good...but how do they perform in the 1/4 mile and dyno?
Thanks for the response guys.
Looks like the majority consensus is Kooks or LG's and I'll have to deal with the possible cat codes. They both look good.
If anybody has any more input, it would be appreciated.

Thanks Again Guys,
Starting to look like LG w/ random tech cats and LG X' pipe and Z06 cat backs. This would give me the torgue I'm looking for and keep it somewhat sneeky quiet and good on long road trips. Any other thoughts?
Has anyone upgraded thier injectors after the Lt's were installed? If so, what size? 30#? I have heard the car tends to run lean after you add Lt, intake and aftermarket exhaust, and a xpipe.

Mine was running rich to begin with (at least at WOT). LTs and tuning solved it, no need for bigger injectors.
