Can any one tell me where the actual solenoid is or where the fuse is? I looked all over in the fuse box (both of them) and looked through the manual. I couldn't find which fuse it was... Also I wonder where the actual solenoid is. Is it accessible with out pulling anything off of the car?
The reason I am asking is since the clutch change I am have a b1tch of a time getting it in reverse. Every other gear is fine just not reverse. I can get it in reverse some times by putting it in first then letting the clutch out and then putting it in reverse. Any help here would GREATLY be appreciated.
The fuse is in the engine bay fuse box. #22 or 23 I think. It is not labeled rev solenoid. The solenoid itself is located on the top side of the transmission, you have to reach your arm up from passenger side to reach it. There is a elec plug that must be connected. Check to make sure it is plugged in.
If the solenoid is bad you have to slam the shifter into reverse. Clutching it, etc. will not help. You may have a bad slave or an install problem with the new clutch.
The Reverse Lockout opens/closes the "gate" to move the shifter to the far right before moving it forward into the gear, so if the RevLO is stuck closed, your problem would be moving it over, not into the gear. If you try moving the shifter into Reverse with the engine off, that'll give you an idea of the extra amount of force you need to move it over.
It sounds like the problem is moving into the gear due to synchros not meshing or similar issue. I generally have the same problem ~50% of the time of moving into Reverse where it requires me to move into 1st then Rev like you.
