Hello guys, I just found this site while searching for info on installing a clutch in the C5. I've looked everywhere I can think of with no luck what so ever. So if anyone knows where I could find some info please let me know.
I'd be curious to see just how much work is required to change out the clutch on a C5 too. Mine is on it's way out and I'm afraid I'll be under that car before I know it.

the job sux especially on jackstands. i did it twice that way
Its a hell of a job. Takes too much time and patience. Also, you will need help of atleast one more person while taking the rear cradle etc out. A great friend of mine here on the forum helped me with my clutch along with a couple more local corvette buddies. None of us had ever done a clutch on C5 before and it took us a total of 14 hours from start to finish. We did the complete clutch along with master, slave and new bearings. Also installed a LAPD remote bleeder while we were at it to make it easier to bleed the clutch in the future if needed be.
Just to give you an idea with what is involved click the link below
I haven't done a clutch yet but did pull the diff out. I did it myself on jackstands without any help. It can be done. The cradle is very heavy so get someone to help out with heaving that SOB. I about broke my back in half moving it around.
It looks worse than it is. It's really nothing more than taking the old parts off and putting the new stuff on. Not technical at all. Def. a 2 person job while handling the rear cradle assembly.
damn just taking the whole rear section of the car looks like alot of work.. oh damn.. and it took the other guy and his friends 14 hours.. that means 20 by myself probably
It's really not that bad. If you are doing it on jack stands go pick yourself up a motorcylce/atv lift. $79 at Sam's. I borrowed one when I did the diff but since I will be installing a clutch and changing gears again I went and bought one for myself. It is also nice to have a couple of floor jacks as well. Here is my how-to for the diff R/R.
A friend and I put 4.10's and the LS7 clutch assembly in my car in ~7 hrs. This was in my garage on jackstands. Included an hour of running to Kragen to get a socket swivel, and eating a borrito.
That was my first time removing the rear suspension and torque tube. I'm sure I could do it again in 5 or less hrs.
14 hrs is , was there a nap involved?
Cajun's and Dopes guides are essential for this if you've never done it before.
