Removing the AIR pump is straightforward but remember to edit it out of your PCM or your car will throw codes and you will get a "Check Engine Light"

You have several components..

The hardline from the passenger's side to the driver's side (removed by cutting the pipe on the passenger's side), releasing the hardline via a 13mm bolt from the cylinder head on the driver's side.

Then you have all of the rubber tubing from the driver's side down to underneath the headlight area on the driver's side.

You'll need to pull the access panels on the lower driver's side, underneath the headlight.

You'll see the pump and associated connector(s), one electrical, one vacuum (leading to the AIR solenoid underneath the battery tray area.. I didn't remove this component; it doesn't really weight anything, and was more work than I wanted to do at the time.)

Then you MUST edit the PCM, mark several DTC's as "do not report error". PM for details..

will the code that gets tripped by removing this cause the engine to go into low power mode?

No. But it will trigger the SES (service engine soon / check engine) idiot light. You just won't pass an ODBII emissions test.

Because its ugly! When I put my headers on, that bastard is coming out. I'm specifically looking for race style headers with NO emissions fittings. I pulled the AIR pump out of my SS, and the engine bay looks 1000x cleaner without those stupid tubes, and things going to the exhaust manifold.
