Default Harland Sharp Rocker - Possible Problem

I remember reading about some manufacturing problem with HS rockers a while back. My car has them but never had a problem.

After my last HPDE I drove the car home 140 miles with no problem. Parked it and drove it only a couple times due to weather.

This morning we noticed a tick has developed. It is pretty loud, but it doesn't sound like a rod or anything serious, something for sure coming from the valvetrain.

Its a 2004 brand new long block with about 12K on it, Comp Cam, cleaned up heads, Comp springs, HS rockers, and Comp pushrods. Cam is near .600 lift but I don't have the specifics in front of it.

Car runs fine, oil pressure is fine. Never noticed it before the HPDE but only drove the car 2-3 times with the windows up and top on, mostly its top off and windows down.

I'm not sure its the rockers but I remember reading something about them having a problem and HS was replacing bad units.

Does anyone know what the problem is and what to look for when pulling the valve cover?

Tick is not present on cold or hot start(20 minutes sitting), but as soon as you give it some revs or change engine speed it comes back.

Tick does increase in frequency with engine rpm, no loss of power at all.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I believe the snap ring was coming out causing the needle bearings to come out of the rocker arm, if you pull the valve cover just look and feel around for loose rocker arms.

They were also moving side to side and the aluminum rather than the roller was pushing on the valve stem. This was chewing up the rocker. I would get in there with a mirror and light and check for any damage on the end of the rocker arm.
