Hello from the C4 section. I have a 94, with the C5 front brake conversion. What pads do you recommend? I would like good stopping power, but would prefer low dust and very little noise. I tried the ceramic pads, but feel they don't have the initial bite I'd like. They are quiet and low dust, but they feel a bit mushy. Please share your brake pad experiences. Thanks.
Go for the stock Z06 brake pads then.... Gene at Fred Beans will give you a good price... see his October C5 specials post a couple days ago in the C5 general ( or parts) section
Are the Z06 pads different from the LS1 C5 pads? Also, I did my conversion back in 2000, so my C5 calipers are from somewhere in the 97-00 range. Are all years of C5 brake pads the same, or did they change at some time? Thanks again.
I use stock rotors they last long and work fine. I track my car a few times a year and have no problems with warping or excess wear. Napa has the same rotor available minus the painted hat for about 25-30 bucks. I did switch from stock Z06 pads to EBC Red pads which have a higher heat tolerance and better bite when hot. I'm due for pads and rotors soon so I'll be using stock rotors and I'm still thinking about pads. The EBCs give up a little cold stopping power for the benefits when hot.
