Default Harmonic balancer...+ Video

Well, not sure if anyone saw my other post, but it seems my harmonic balancer has a wobble! (not good)...

here is a video of what i am talking about, someone tell me this is normal please =).

http://www.the-chem.com/VID/balancer.wmv

By the way, it seems that the inner ring of the balancer is straight, its just the outer "ring"seems to be the one with the wobble.

Suggestions?

yep, looks like the outer ring slipped on the inner ring. I had one fail on my mustang gt so that it was actually digging into my nice anodized aluminum water pump pulley. (wobbling much worse than yours) I would go ahead and replace it even though it looks like a pain in the a$$ to change on these cars

anyone else, any advice?

Is this car driveable for a few more miles? how worried should i be?

realisticly i wont have time to fix this till next weekend... i can borrow a car if i need to or drive this as is.. (i drive 400 miles a week)....

Is driving it okay? if any vibrations are felt, pull over right away?

or?

No one can predict when (or even if) this pulley will come apart..

I justified a cam swap on the premise of proactively replacing a stock pulley that looked better than yours. Did I "need" to do it when I did? Probably not. But then my crystal ball has been on the fritz lately.

IMHO, if you need to drive the car (to work, etc.) for another week (or two), do so, just don't spin the motor any higher than necessary. But I would go ahead and take care of it at some point in the near future.

Couldn't this cause accelerate wear on the main bearings?

Does not look good.
