Can someone explain what a mail order tune really is? I know I remove my PCM and forward it to the tuner for their "stock" tune, but does the PCM provide the tuner with any information on how my engine is currently running? Rich - Lean etc.
I am thinking about installing H/C package over the winter and no tuners in a close proximity to my location. Would a mail order tune make sense as a "patch" until I can drive the car to a dyno?
No the pcm wont tell them anything. They will go by your head choice and cam. Then they will look at a tune they have done in person in the past on another car that had similar mods and use it for a reference.
Call A&A and talk to Charlie the tuner. He does mail order tunes and has done so many in person he has a huge database I'm sure he can get you really close to a great tune..
