rons pics is now a porno site I guess ron didn't pay his web site bill,it flipped on jan 1, anyone have the pics
I hadn't done a thing with the RonjPics web site for some time and there weren't many hits on it anyways so I didn't renew the domain name this time around.
For those interested, I have posted the info about the door module repair on my Corvette Club website. I will later post the info about parking brake adjust ment as well.
There is a lock relay and an unlock relay. See my post number 54 of this thread. In fact, you might want to look at all my posts on this thread, because I detailed my trials and my successes!
To protect the relay contacts from the arc created by the current into the solinoid operator you can solder a capacitor - suggest a .01 mfd disk cap accross the contacts just get the highest voltage you can find - at least 600volts. You can also use a device called a "transorb" which is a solid state device you can find from an electronics supplier. This is the better but more expensive solution. You can find the capacitor at any Radio Shack.
Can't see the pics anymore. Anyone have any suggestions or pics of where to make cuts?

Stick emery cloth inbetween the contacts, press the contact points closed with something small like a toothpick and pull the emery cloth out. A few times of this and the contacts will be clean. Tape the hole over and put everything back together. Mine's been working fine since the cleaning of the contact points.

You can pretty much cut anywhere, but it's a waste of time. I cut mine and filed the points, but it didn't last long enough to make the r&r of the door panel worth it. Once the contact points get burnt and pitted, sanding won't buy you much time. You might as well replace the relays; they're dirt cheap at Digikey.com. They were cheaper than the shipping so I bought 4 in 2004, and still have 3 left!
