My ZO has been setting for near 6 weeks (on slicks) and as i went to crank her she was dead dead dead so i boosted her off. After letting her idle for near 3 minutes the temp is setting on 230 MY car even on the track never reached above 200. My question is : COmputer bug due to dead battery or stuck closed thermostat?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If you car is stock they run that hot, if you have a program to have the fans come on sooner then something is wrong, it could be a crap load of things, I'd scan it and see when your fans are coming on or if they are.
But if your running the stock program I wouldn't worry about it. If it gets alot higher than that worry your overheating.
Its an MTI Atlanta car and even if the fans are not operational 3minutes 230 from stone cold? i dont think thats it but im not a mech. Thanks for the input! anymore?
Not sure what you mean? If you scan it you can see when the fans are supposed to come on, if they don't at that time then there is your problem. It SOUNDS (not a good assumption to make when your having problems) like you have a custom tune so they should come on early. 230 is not hot for these cars stock is all I'm saying, they run hot for emission reasons. I think my car would get up a bit higher than that but its been a long time since the tune was stock
Why are you letting your car idle like that anyways from cold? Let it idle for a minute maybe and drive it around the block a couple times and see what happens.
