Does the Hurst have adjustable stops and does it Buzz?
yes it has adjustable stops and yes it rattles with the clutch out in neutral. There are a few DYIs that take care of the problem. Here is one of them that takes about 10 mins.
I used Hurst shifters in the sixties and seventies, Hurst Compition Plus four speed shifters, in fact my first Corvette ('63 roadster) had one. They were the best at that time. I like the name!
I have historically been a B&M Ripper guy. I've had two of them in both my F-Bods, in addition to replacing a Hurst in my LPE Camaro. For the F-Bod at anyrate, I would recomend the Ripper, hands down. Now, in my C5, I have a Hurst (installed prior to my purchasing the car). Immediately I had planned on replacing it with a Ripper, however, the C5 Hurst is leaps & bounds ahead of the F-Body Hurst. (not sure why as they are virtually the same tranny).
So, my vote is for either the Hurst or Ripper. I believe you will be happy with either. I am VERY pleased with the Hurst in the C5. I would let price be your deciding factor.
