Default Blackwing Vs ZO6 lid?

Has anyone after all this time done a dyno to actually see if there is a difference in performance between the Z lid (02 and after) and the Blackwing? I switch mine back and forth from time to time and see no difference between the two (SOTP) at all. Just wondering. I don't want to start an intake war though. Just between these two.

I'd also like to know the result. I am skeptical that any of these air filters do much without other mods.

FWIW, based on below, I'd say little difference on stock car; yes, temp/humidty and stuff has effect on runs but no big, wompin' difference. Blackwing does feel a little more responsive at roll-ons at freeway speed but that could just be wishful thinking.

5-11-2005, Z06 Airbox/Paper filter, 4500 miles on car
Reaction :1.108
I1 :2.098
I2 :5.937
I3 :8.998
E.T. :13.779
MPH :103.249

9-07-2005, Blackwing, 8500 miles on car
Reaction: .557
I1: 2.046
I2: 5.755
I3: 8.733
MPH(I3): 84.044
I4: 11.194
ET: 13.397
MPH: 103.573

What is your 60' on these runs? Your mph is virtually unchanged so I would think you just got a better launch on the Blackwing run.

2.09 vs 2.04; yep MPH is same so I guess no real gain for Blackwing; very unscientific, though.

And how about either of them compared to stock? I'm still skeptical that a C5 needs a bigger air opening than the stock box.

Does it make a real difference, or is it like buying more expensive speaker wire?

You can gain up to 3 tenths and 3 mph through the qtr with a CAI.

Cold air induction for sure. Maybe a Honker or Vararam but neither one of these two, not being cold air. I did by the way notice a difference going from the stock LS1 lid to the ZO6 lid, but not really from the Z lid with paper to the Blackwing which has always had me wondering. I really want a Callaway Honker, but too worried about Hydrolock to do it.

Well there IS that, but (at least with the Blackwing, no experience with others) they are also just much easier to work with. I started out with the LS6 lid mod but once I started messing with the stock airbox I realized what a giant, ungainly, piece of crap it is. I ordered the Blackwing that day and installed it 2 days later - never looked back.

I think the lid is a "stealth" mod. you feel it, but hard to see!
