Could someone please post the differences between these three engines. Is the ls2 is a later version of the ls1 and the ls6 is the Z06 engine? TIA

The ls1 and ls6 has the same short block. ls6 just has a bigger cam and different heads.
Ls2 is a whole new version which is a little bigger bore (4.00) 364 ci. same heads as the z06 aka ls6 (casting # 243) everything else is different but somwhat interchangable with the ls1 and ls6. I hope this makes sence to you.

I thought the same thing. However, there are actually casting differences between the two blocks, as well as a revised PCV system for the LS6.
"While the LS1 block has some machined openings between bays, the LS6 block has larger "windows" at the base of each cylinder that better accommodate bay-to-bay breathing. The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system was also changed."

I have a 2001 ls1 with exhaust and some minor bolt ons , was wondering what from this motor would interchange with a ls2 or ls6 motor, was gonna do heads and cam over christmas, would be nice if they were interchangeable or any info on maybe a 402 . What could I keep, what would I lose, that way I can kind of figure where to spend my money ,knowing I can swap it over to new motor which I would like to do in next yr or so? Thanks for any info..

i think that pretty much al lthe ls1 hardware can go on either the ls2 or ls6. The ls2 is alum too, where alot of the 427's out there are iron. But guys going to an ls2 are saying they only need to extend a couple sensors and acouple very minor things. the rest is interchangeable. Only pay attention to the years for the setups vs older plumbing etc. Search around a little

You can use your old heads ad cam in the 402 ls2 but make sure you get the right combo. IE your cam might be a little small for the ls2 depending on what size you go with for you ls1. I have a ls2 (402) in my 2000 frc and used my old stage 2 heads and it fine but i am holding back some of the hp. I am now thinking about changing the heads I should have done it when i had it all apart and would have save me the labor of have them pulled off an put back on plus retuning it again
